Day 1 : Zambezi River Sunset Cruise – Zambia

This Victoria Falls Tour Package begins with pick-up from the international airport in Livingstone, Zambia. From the airport, you are transferred to the Protea Hotel on the outskirts of Livingstone town, near the Victoria Falls waterfall.

Zambezi River Sunset Cruise
In the afternoon we head to the Royal Landing, to be greeted by a Marimba Band, from where we embark on a scenic sunset cruise on the Zambezi River. Departing at around 15:30, the cruise takes about two hours, traveling downstream towards Vic Falls as far as Siloka Island and back along the edge of Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park.

The leisurely Zambezi River cruise is the ideal way to end your first day at Victoria Falls, catching a spectacular African sunset over the tranquil river and bush. The laid-back boat cruise includes sundowners and tasty snacks to complete the experience. Hippos and crocodiles are commonly spotted from the boat, along with various other wild animals such as elephants, giraffes, buffalos, and even rhinos. An amazing array of birds can also be sighted on this mellow-paced cruise in nature.

After our mellow sunset cruise, we return to the hotel for an evening of relaxation.

Day 2 : Chobe National Park – Botswana

On day two of our Victoria Falls Tour Package, we set out early for our full-day safari in Chobe National Park, one of the best game parks in Botswana.

We travel to the Zimbabwe border post (don't forget your passport) and once through there we head to the Botswana entry gate, stopping en route to step on a sanitized mat to prevent Foot and Mouth disease from entering the country. On arrival in Botswana, we transfer to an open safari vehicle for the trip to Chobe National Park and for game viewing in the park. We are headed for the northern section of the park, where the Chobe River forms the border in the north.

Our adventure begins with a river cruise into the park providing an opportunity to view the many waders and animals that frequent the river banks, as this is a major watering spot, particularly in the dry season. This area is known for its dense woodland, which has attracted herds of elephants resulting in a huge elephant population, estimated to be about 50 000.

We take a welcome lunch break at the recently renovated Chobe Game Lodge, where a buffet awaits us. A complimentary drink and tea or coffee are served with lunch.

Feeling revived we set out on our afternoon game drive. Apart from the many elephants we are sure to see, we can expect to see up to 15 different animal species, including buffalo, giraffe, kudu, roan and sable, impala, warthog, bushbuck, monkeys, and baboons, along with the accompanying predators (lion, leopard, hyena, and jackal). Be sure to have your cameras ready and binoculars if you have them. It's also advisable to have sunscreen and a hat for this 3-hour game drive in the hot, afternoon sun.

After our exciting Chobe Safari in Botswana, we head back to Victoria Falls in Zambia, through the border posts arriving at our hotel around 18:00.

Day 3 : Game Drives In Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park – Zambia

Get ready for an adventure-packed day at Victoria Falls in Zambia! Day three of our Victoria Falls Tour Package includes game drive in the Mosi Oa Tunya National park, visiting Victoria Falls waterfall, and a local cultural experience.

This morning we set off on a Game Drives in Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park. Explore Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park on optional 3-hour game drives with experienced guides. Mosi-Oa-Tunya is home to various wild animals; including the endangered white rhino, elephant, giraffe, zebra, and buffalo, among others.

You can also spot hippos and crocodiles along the Zambezi River, as well as an abundance of birds. You will be collected from and transferred back to your accommodation and refreshments, as well as park fees, are included in the optional game drive outing on this Victoria Falls Tour Package.

Guided Victoria Falls Tour
This afternoon the adventure continues with a guided tour of Vic Falls, led by an experienced and knowledgeable local guide. We walk through lush rainforests on the Zambian side of Vic Falls visiting vantage points for spectacular views of this natural wonder. The walk takes us across Knife Edge Bridge and through the forest, hosting plant species rarely found in other parts of Zambia or Zimbabwe. During peak season we can even feel the spray of the “Smoke that Thunders” as Vic Falls is called.

Victoria Falls, one of the seven natural wonders of the world, is an awe-inspiring sight to behold, especially when the Zambezi water levels are high. Considered the largest waterfall in the world, the falls plummet 100 m into the gorge below and span 1,5 km across. About 550 million liters of water flow over Vic Falls per minute.

Cultural Village Tour
A knowledgeable guide takes us on the village tour, which provides insight into the lives of local Zambians and their rich traditions. We visit Mukuni Village to see how the Leya people live and find out more about their unique history and customs.

Founded in the 13th century, Mukuni village was the largest village on the Zambian side of Vic Falls before Livingstone was established. Formerly known as Gundu, the village was renamed after Chief Mukuni from the Congo when he conquered it in the 18th century. Today this African village is home to about 7000 people and has its own clinic, school, two churches, shops, boreholes, and bars. See how locals build and decorate their huts, engage in small-scale farming, and create African curios. A fascinating glimpse into the mix of modern and traditional living in Zambia.

Day 4 : Flight Of Angels Over Victoria Falls – Zambia

The 15-minute helicopter flight provides an uninterrupted bird’s eye view of the magnificent Victoria Falls, the Zambezi River, and surrounding bush. We fly upstream over Mosi Oa Tunya National Park, looking out for game below, and downstream over the impressive Batoka Gorge. This scenic Flight of Angels is conducted in a helicopter designed to offer each passenger superb views.

I had the pleasure of planning and booking a trip with Southern Dynasty. They are an amazing company. There are no words for how happy I was with the quality of the trip and the service that we received. The company is lead by Collins who is a local Zambian and he really know what he is doing. Because of covid our group was worried about how things were going to work so we asked a lot of questions and sent a lot of emails (51 back and forth) Collins helped us every step of the way in a quick and professional manner. Everyone who works for him is very knowledgeable, kind and helpful. Collins really runs an amazing operation. We enjoyed a camping safari in Chobe national park. The game drive and the boat cruise was amazing we saw so many different animals. The guide did a great job of making sure everyone got a chance to see and found so many animals hiding in the bush. We then camped. I have done several safaris in different locations and this was the best safari yet. We then camped and had dinner. Camping was a great way to experience and respect the nature around us. We also had a great meal and felt safe the entire time. We then got up and had breakfast and went on another game drive before getting driven to Zambia to go to the falls. The guides helped us through customs and again answered any questions that we had. The falls were great we spent several hours looking at their beauty. Then Collins got us back safe to our hostel. My wifi is not strong I really want to share photos but I am unable to so I will create another post later to show the amazing things that we were able to see. Thank you Collins and team. You all are amazing. PS we loved and trusted them so much that we have planned some more adventures with Southern Dynasty and will use them in the future.

Collins is THE BEST ever!

I don't have enough words to describe how much I appreciate Collins and his of expertise. I traveled in a group of 9. We had a limited amount of time and budget, but he made it work! We started with a beautiful boat cruise in Chobe National Park. We were treated to a delicious lunch at Buzz Coffee in Kasane. We then went on a long game drive towards our campsite in Chobe. Our Kalahari Tours guide, with whom Collins collaborated for part of our excursion, ensured it was the best game drive I have ever experienced, and I have done about six safaris that were all wonderful. We had the best time camping under the beautiful African sky and were warm in our cots overnight. The next morning, we went on a shorter game drive during which we got very close to two big lions! It was the highlight of the trip for me. Our group was then seamlessly whisked away to Livingstone so we could spend several hours at Victoria Falls. Collins took great care of us, working out each and every detail from our initial booking until the last moment when our group was dropped off at the airport. He even coordinated our COVID PCR testing that needed to happen in a short window of time in order to catch our flight back to the US. Traveling this far during a global pandemic was a heavy lift, but Collins was highly communicative and flexible, reassuring us at every step of the journey. I cannot recommend his services highly enough! You will have the trip of a lifetime and feel confident that each arrangement is made thoroughly. Thank you, Collins, for the experience of a lifetime! Kein Strom, kein Wasser, kein garnix. Dennoch erwecken die Leute dort durchaus den Eindruck, dass sie glücklich sind. Auch haben Sie die Möglichkeit, in die Hütten hineinzusehen, um zu sehen, wie die Menschen ebendort wohnen.
