Day 1 : Lanzhou Arrival Transfer

Location: Lanzhou

Welcome to Lanzhou, the capital of Gansu Province on the ancient Silk Road. Upon arrival Lanzhou, you will be met and transferred to your hotel in the city. Enjoy your free time for the rest of today if you arrive early.

Day 2 : Lanzhou To Binglingsi And Linxia By Car

Location: Linxia

Accommodation: Hotel

Accommodation Name: Linxia 4-Star Hehuang Hotel or equivalent

Today you will visit Gansu Provincial Museum firstly, which exhibits the relics and antiques from Silk Road, particularly the Galloping Horse Statue in the museum is a must-see(close on Monday). Afterwards you will take a 2-hour car ride to Linxia where we will take ferry to view the Binglingsi Grottos that was built beside Yellow River, and various Buddha Statues and the scenery around the Grottos are incredible.

Afterwards, you will be transferred to the hotel in Linxia(Labrang).

Day 3 : Linxia To Labrang By Car

Accommodation Name: Labrang 4-Star Civil Aviation Hotel or equivalent

Today you will walk up to a spot where you can have bird view of the entire monastery, then you will visit Langrang Temple with a local Lama guide. Labrang Monastery is one of the six biggest Tibetan monasteries presenting typical Tibetan Buddhism culture.

Enjoy the free afternoon at the small town.

Day 4 : Labrang To Tongren And Xining

Location: Xining

Accommodation: Hotel

Accommodation Name: 4-Star Qinghai Hotel or equivalent

Take a long ride toady to Xining. On the way you will see the stunning grassland and many Tibetan villages. Stop in Tongren to visit Rongwo Monastery, a well-known Tibetan temple in Qinghai Province, particulalrly the lunar new year celebration and its Thangka.

Day 5 : Transfer To Xining Airport After Sightseeing Kumbum Monastery

Location: Xining

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch

You will be transferred to visit Kumbum Monastery which is about 25 km from Xining. As birth place of Tsongkhpa who was the founder of Yellow Hat School of Tibetan Buddhism, Kumbum Monastery has impressive Buddha states, yak butter carvings etc. You will stay here for about 2 hours before transferring to Xining airport or Xining railway station where the trip concludes. You can book our another tour to Zhangye.

Note: Please book your flight departing from Xining airport after 3 pm.

Do you operate a “single share” option and how does it work?

All of our tours are planned and operated on a twin-share basis, meaning that the standard cost is based either on individual travellers sharing accommodation with another group member of the same sex, or people who book together sharing accommodation. Silkroadtrips are pleased to offer travellers the option of pre-booking a guaranteed single room. Kindly note our single supplement do not include sharing cabins on the overnight trains or cruises.
Trains

Aboard the overnight sleeper train, berths are usually in 1st class ‘soft sleeper’ lockable compartments for 4 which have 2 sets of bunks with clean bedding provided. WC and washbasins are provided for shared use at the end of each carriage. Hot meals and snacks are sold to your berth on all overnight journeys. In times of large demand we may have to travel in 2nd class ‘hard sleeper’ which consists of sectioned off compartments for 6,leading off an open plan carriage. Bullet trains are getting popular, it is very modern with a high velocity of 300km per hour. There are western toilets, dinning car on the bullet trains, and normally for short distance running 1—8 hours.
