Tour Overview

Day 1 Departure from Iquitos City via auto to arrive in the port town of Nanay (Bellavista), where the Rio Nanay meets the Rio Amazonas. After departing by boat we will travel downriver 70 KM (about 2 hours). During the riverboat trip we will have a great possibility of seeing caimans, turtles, herons, pink river dolphins, snakes, and many other species of flora/fauna along the riverbank. Visit Monkey Island – a small island which shelters a large number of monkeys in their natural habitat. During our visit on the island we will have the unique opportunity to observe and interact with a wide variety of monkeys that include: Sloth, Goeldi’s monkey, Tamarin monkey, Capuchin monkey, Yellow-Handed Titi monkey, Masked Titi monkey, Cebidae monkey, Wooly monkey, Spider monkey, and many more! We will have to opportunity to hold very large Anacondas, Boas and interact with the very unique and rare Amazonian mata-mata turtle. Afternoon fishing excursion via boat with opportunity to catch piranha, catfish & other species of fish. Dolphin watching session at the camp where we will have the unique opportunity to see the pink freshwater dolphin. If we are lucky we will also have the chance to swim with them on the main Amazon River. In the evening we will go on a nocturnal nature hike to see what types of species can be seen (lizards, snakes, spiders, monkeys). Overnight at Maniti Eco-Lodge. Day 2 Early morning jungle hike where we will have the unique opportunity to see a vast number of monkeys, birds, and many other wildlife in their natural habitat. We will also see and learn about various types of Amazonian plants. Departure from Maniti Lodge with destination Iquitos City. Visit with a local native Indian tribe to learn and observe about history and their customs. Viewing of Victoria Regia – the largest freshwater aquatic plant in the world. Canopy Walk & Zipline Excursion

Climb to the top of the observation deck where you have a view of the the jungle and the Amazon River. Walk on top of the trees, zip through 3 different zip-lines and rappel down to the jungle floor.

How Do I Book?

We require a 50% deposit to hold your reservation that can be made with any major credit card, when we receive your payment we will send you a payment confirmation via email. The remaining balance will be due at the time of (or before) your arrival to Iquitos.
What are the group sizes?

We accommodate groups as well as solo travelers. Small groups & solo travelers share excursions but accommodations are always private and group sizes are never more than 6 people.
What if I have dietary restrictions?

We can accommodate vegetarians, vegans and gluten free upon request with no additional charge.
When are you tours scheduled?

We operate tours every single day with no fixed departure dates – accommodating your schedule, not ours!
What are the start and end times of your tours?

Tours begin at 9:00am on the first day and end at 5:00pm on the last day. Arriving late or departing early? No problem! We will accommodate your travel schedule and ensure that no activities are missed.

What policies are in place for Covid-19?

Maniti Expeditions does not require vaccinations for travelers participating in our tours.
What happens if I need to change my holiday date once I’ve booked?

You can change the date of your date with no penalty fee by contacting us.

5 Stars +++++++++++++++ Words can not describe how perfect this experience was. From start to finish it was amazing. Our tour guide Edwin was over and beyond the best tour guide I’ve ever had on any trek I’ve been on. He was so knowledgeable about the jungle and the river and made sure that everyone in our group was safe and comfortable at all times. The daily excursions we did were fascinating. We met and danced with indigenous people, swam with pink dolphins in the Amazon river, fished for and ate piranhas, played with monkeys and sloths and SO much more!! My friends and I participated in the Ayahuasca ceremony which was incredibly special to all of us. We were a bit nervous going into this but again our tour guide, Edwin was with us the entire time and made sure we were safe and comfortable. Our Shaman was wise and kind and also attended to our comfort levels at all times. This was a great part of our experience and I recommend it to anyone interested. Edwin also brought us on a hike through the jungle where he taught us jungle survival techniques and various plant medicines. Absolutely incredible and fascinating. The facilities and the food were also AMAZING. We had working showers and toilets, plenty of adequate coverage from mosquitos with nets and screened in bungalows. Everything was kept very clean and comfortable. In addition, all the other staff members were so sweet and helpful. They attended to any need we had. I speak for my group of 3 females when I say Maniti Expeditions absolutely made our Amazon experience better than any of us could have imagined. We also want to again stress to the company how grateful we were for our tour guide, Edwin. He was like family to us during our time in the Amazon. Truly, my words do not do this review justice. We had the most amazing time. Our host Edwin was so knowledgable and enthusiastic, he was very happy to answer all our questions and share lots of stories. We were given activity options so could choose things that suited our interests. The food was really nice and plenty of it. Comfortable beds and a nice seating and hammock area outside each lodge. A beautiful and safe journey into the amazon, guaranteed to change your perspective on the natural world and your place within it. Our guide Segundo's curiosity was contagious, and we feel so thankful to have shared our days with him! When my partner got ill, the staff and the guides came together to find solutions and medicines from the nearby town as well as the surrounding plants. Best time of my peru trip

I visited the maniti camp in October 2020 and it was the best experience I ever had, my guide Edwin was the best guide I could have imagined. He showed me everything with so much love and patience. One day he took me to the black river, one day we went to see the dolphins, went piranha fishing, we also did a night trekking through the Amazon, and he showed me big tarantulas and all kinds of other animals. We also went to a small „zoo“ with sloths, snakes, and monkeys. Also, the food was very nice in the camp. This was really a highlight of my Peru trip and I would like to thank Edwin for the good time I had. I hope to maybe come back one day. ...more ...less
