Day 1: Start Of Tour In Rome
Location: Rome

It’s the start of a 10-day Europe adventure! Welcome to Rome, where the tour begins. Meet your Tour Leader and the rest of the tour group at the hotel. Once everyone has arrived, it’s time to travel into the city to explore! Join a local guide who will introduce the group to the incredible history of this unique city on a guided walking tour. Rome reigned supreme as the focal point of the Roman Empire, and the walking tour will showcase highlights such as the Spanish Steps, the Pantheon, Piazza Navona, the Roman Forum and, of course, the Colosseum. Tonight, get to know the tour group over an included dinner.
Walking tour of Rome: This city has so much to see and do that we can’t list everything here but your walking tour of Rome with a professional local guide will give you a great start for further exploration in your free time. You will see the Roman Forum, Arch of Septimus Severus, the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon and the Spanish steps.
Welcome dinner: Celebrate the first night of the Western Adventure tour with a welcome dinner. Join your tour leader and the rest of the group to enjoy a meal at a local Italian restaurant.
Day 2: Rome: Free Day

Explore the best of Rome on a full free day! Rome is known as the “Eternal City” and is an ever-popular travel destination. It’s home to ancient ruins, historical landmarks, religious monuments and lively local culture! Be sure to make the most of your free day and see top attractions like the Colosseum and Roman Forum up close or simply wander through the historic streets and try delicious local cuisine! Or, travel to the Vatican City to visit the Vatican museums and the breathtaking Sistine Chapel.
Day 3: Rome - Siena - Venice

Today’s first stop is the Tuscan town of Siena. Enjoy free time in this scenic destination, which is famous for its cuisine, wine, art, museums, medieval cityscape and the Palio di Siena (the famous horse race held twice a year). Next up, Venice! Arrive in the evening, with the chance to see the city solo, relax at the hotel or choose to join your Tour Leader on an optional Venice by Night excursion. This city exudes a feeling of magic! It has been captured in art, film and literature for centuries and there is no doubt it will capture your heart and imagination!
Visit Siena: Visit the Tuscan town of Siena, famous for the Palio horse race and also for its incredible cuisine and culture!
Day 4: Venice: Free Day

Start the full day in Venice with an orientation tour of the floating city. Afterwards, enjoy free time to explore at your leisure. Every visit to Venice should include a gondola ride, which your tour leader can organise for you, as well as a trip further out into the lagoon to visit Murano and Burano. These islands are famous for their glass-blowing and lace-making crafts respectively, and rows of beautiful multi-coloured houses. Enjoy all of these optionals, select one or simply wander around this enchanting city at your own pace today.
Orientation tour of Venice: Join your tour leader for an orientation tour of this incredible city. See the main points of interest in the heart of the city and help orientate yourself for your free day to explore as you wish! See St. Mark’s Square, St. Mark’s Basilica, St. Mark’s Museum, Campanile, Doge’s Palace, Rialto Market and Scuola Grande di San Rocco.
Day 5: Venice - Lucerne - Swiss Alps
Location: Venice, Lucerne, Swiss Alps

Crossing the border into Switzerland, the tour continues to the Swiss Alps with a stop at Lucerne, a gorgeous Swiss city, along the way. After an orientation tour and some free time here, enjoy a scenic drive through the Swiss mountains and admire the alpine scenery en route to the accommodation for the next two nights in the Jungfrau region. The views of the stunning landscapes, crystalline lakes and snow-capped mountains are unbeatable! Arrive later today and tuck in to an included group dinner. Afterwards relax, drink, chat with your fellow explorers and get an early night as tomorrow is another full day of adventures!
Visit Lucerne: Join your tour leader on an orientation tour of this picturesque Swiss city, known for its medieval architecture. See some of Lucerne’s top sights and enjoy some free time afterwards to explore further.
Scenic mountain drive: Enjoy the spectacular views on a drive through mountain passes and alongside lakes, breathtaking mountain vistas and scenic views of quaint Swiss towns.
Day 6: Swiss Alps: Free Day

Enjoy a free day in the Swiss Alps. One of the highlights of this tour is the chance to join the optional train ride to the ‘Top of Europe’ – Jungfraujoch. The views will leave you breathless (and not just because of the high altitude!) This 4000m glacier has a unique beauty and the combination of ice, snow, rock and epic views will stay with you for life. There is snow all year round, even in the middle of summer! It will definitely make for some fantastic photos! Alternatively, explore at lower altitudes and discover the hidden gems of the local village or take in the spectacular local scenery outdoors. Complete the day with an optional Swiss fondue dinner for an authentic taste of Switzerland.
Day 7: Swiss Alps - Black Forest

Say farewell to the Swiss Alps this morning because today, Germany is calling! The tour journeys through the magnificent Black Forest which is known for its incredible beauty so prepare to be mesmerised. From tall pine trees to babbling brooks and rolling hills, the Black Forest could be the setting for a fairytale! Visit Lake Titisee for a photo stop and enjoy free time for lunch in Triberg. Afterwards, tick “World’s Largest Cuckoo Clock” off your bucket list before stopping in Freudenstadt with free time to explore the beautiful market square. Tonight’s accommodation is located in the Black Forest region and a group dinner is included this evening.
Scenic Black Forest Drive: Enjoy a beautiful drive through the Black Forest region, with stops at quaint villages along the way.
Photo stop at Lake Titisee: Visit Lake Titisee - the largest natural lake in the Black Forest! Be sure to have your camera ready to capture the beautiful lake and surrounding scenery during a photo stop.
Visit Triberg: Enjoy free time to visit one of the most popular destinations in the Black Forest! Enjoy the traditional architecture and welcoming vibe. While in Triberg you can also see the Triberg Waterfall and the Black Forest Museum.
See the world’s largest cuckoo clock: Nearby Triberg, you can visit the world’s largest cuckoo clock! The structure was completed in 1994 and has held the title in the Guinness Book of World Records since 1997.
Visit Freudenstadt: Enjoy free time in this charming town in southern Germany. Freudenstadt is home to the largest market square in the country which is surrounded by pretty historic buildings.
Day 8: Black Forest - Rhine Valley - Amsterdam

Auf Wiedersehen Schwarzwald (Black Forest)! It’s time to travel to the beautiful Rhine Valley. From Saint Goar, take a boat cruise to the next river stop of Boppard. Watch vineyards, castles, forests and towers roll by while relaxing on board. Disembark and enjoy a wine tasting at a local cellar. The Rhine Valley is renowned for cultivars like Riesling and Gewürztraminer. Next, journey on to Amsterdam. Enjoy dinner at a local restaurant and settle into the accommodation for the night.
Cruise along the Rhine River: Cruise down the Rhine and see the beautiful scenery and the largest concentration of Gothic castles (Sterrenberg, Liebestein, Katz and Fortress Rheinfels) in Europe.
Rhine Valley Wine Tasting: Visit a local wine merchant in one of Germany's most famous wine growing regions, and sample several types of delicious German wine. Popular varieties from the surrounding area and neighbouring regions include Riesling, Spätburgunder and Pinot Noir. The region is also well-known for eiswein (ice wine), a very sweet dessert wine made from grapes harvested in the freezing winter months.
Day 9: Amsterdam: Free Day

Today begins with a cruise of Amsterdam’s charming canals! Admire the sights of this fascinating city from the water. Then, choose to either explore Amsterdam at your leisure or join an optional excursion of the Dutch countryside. This excursion includes a visit to a local cheese farm and clog factory, a photo stop at the historical windmill village, Zaanse Schans, and a visit to the quaint seaside village of Volendam where you can wander the streets filled with cafés and admire the picturesque views. Later, join the optional farewell dinner to taste delicious Dutch pancakes and to toast to the last night of the tour!
Amsterdam Canal Cruise: Enjoy a relaxing sightseeing cruise along Amsterdam’s charming canals. An audio guide is included to provide more information about the architectural sights and points of interest as seen from the water.
Day 10: End Of Tour In Amsterdam

Traveller Comfort - *COACH* tours
We welcome all travellers on our tours but we would like to ensure that you are as comfortable as possible. In light of this, please ensure that you are happy with the below information and level of fitness required.
Expat Explore tries to be as accommodating as possible, however, our tours are unfortunately not designed for people travelling with wheelchairs or severe mobility issues.
Our tours are fast paced because they are designed for you to see the most a destination has to offer. We also want to ensure that you explore as much as possible, which may require long periods without stops on the coach as we drive to a new destination.
We offer walking tours in most cities (up to 3 hours), and a wheelchair is not always a practical option as there are often cobbled streets and stairs on these tours.
For travellers in wheelchairs, you will only be able to store your wheelchair under the coach with the other luggage. Thus, on the long drives between cities you will not necessarily have access to your wheelchair if we make a quick bathroom stop along the way. Please note that travelling with a wheelchair could prove difficult as our coaches don't have wheelchair lifts, as such you will need to be able to board and alight the coach on your own.
With regards to our accommodation, not all hotels have lifts and this means potentially having to carry bags up and down stairs.

Is there a limit to luggage that can be brought on the tour?
Due to weight and space limitations, you are allowed to bring one main piece of luggage weighing no more than 20kg, and one small soft bag for hand luggage weighing a maximum of 7kg. On all tours, you will have to carry your own luggage (e.g. into hotels and up to your room if hotels don’t have elevators). Please bear this in mind when you are deciding what to pack

What is the standard of the hotels on this tour?
We have searched and invested in excellent accommodation options, either located in cities or well placed with public transport connections. Clean linen, towels is always included. Toiletries (shampoo, shower gel etc) and hair dryers are not always included, so you may wish to bring these with you. Accommodation is provided in twin share en-suite rooms. We use a mix of mostly 2, 3 & 4-star hotels.

There is an optional single supplement/private room upgrade available for single travellers who wish to have a private room. This can be added at the time of booking or by contacting our customer services team. Please note that the room provided may be a single room with a single bed.

What is the fitness level required to do this tour?
All travellers are required to carry their own bags, get on and off the coach, and use public transport. Our city walking tours can last up to 3 hours and certain places involve walking up and down lots of steps. We want you to enjoy your tour, so read through the itinerary thoroughly and make your own conclusions as to whether you feel that you are fit and healthy enough.

Do you operate a “single share” option and how does it work?
If you are travelling alone there is no compulsory charge - you will share a twin room with another passenger of the same gender. There is an optional single supplement/private room upgrade available for single travellers who wish to have a private room. This can be added at the time of booking or by contacting our team.

Children on tour?
Our tours are not suitable for young children which is why we have a minimum age limit of 10 years old. However, at the discretion of Expat Explore we may consider younger children on certain tours if they meet certain criteria and a request is received in writing via email. Minors (between 10 and 18 years of age) must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who accepts full responsibility for them. Unaccompanied minors will not be accepted on tour. Expat Explore reserves the right to decline any booking at our discretion. Any minor (between 10 and 18 years of age) is priced the same as an adult.
