Tickets (€15.50) can be booked through your tour leader at the welcome briefing − entrance is typically at midday. The tour leader can also book you a tapas-tasting menu at Pasaje Bar nearby (normally for around 2.30pm) or a early evening flamenco show at La Casa de Flamenco or Casa de Guitarra. Other sights you might like to visit include the cathedral, Metropol Parasol and La Casa Palacio del Conde de Lebrija.During your exploration of Seville, make sure to pick up some dinner to eat on the bus back to the cortijo. We typically arrive around 8.30pm and the kitchen is closed, though there are restaurants open in the village.

Day 6 : Visit El Chorro gorge and walk El Caminito del Rey – Level 2 (Leisurely/Moderate)

Location: El Chorro

Accommodation Name: Cortijo Rosario

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

A short drive takes us to El Chorro gorge, where we are dropped off at the Guadalhorce Dam and reservoir to begin our walk. We’ll head to the start of El Caminito del Rey, a narrow cliffside path hanging 328ft (100m) above the Guadalhorce river. Originally built around 1905, and improved around 1921, it fell into disrepair, earning it the moniker ‘the most dangerous path in the world' or even the ‘walk of death'.

The new Caminito del Rey was reconstructed and reopened to the public in 2015, with the route and design replicating (as much as possible) the old one, but with higher safety standards. After, there will be a chance to relax and rest by the reservoir.

The Caminito del Rey ticket is included in the cost of the trip and will be arranged by Exodus upon booking. However, please be aware that for reservations made less than 90 days prior to departure, there may be a supplement to pay to guarantee entrance as ticket numbers are limited. We will be able to check this upon booking and confirm the amount of the supplement if it applies.

El Peñon is the highest point in the Seville province, 3,700ft (1,130m) above sea level, offering dramatic views of the landscape around Algamitas and the neighbouring villages, hills and farmland. On the way back to the cortijo, we stop for drinks on a lovely panoramic terrace.

Best guide ever!

Great varied walk, good group. Miguel-the guide-was the best ever. Weather was good too

Fantastic holiday

Excellent trip with a variety of terrain and something different to offer every day. As described, it's a grade2 level, with leisurely/moderate walking. The accommodation is homely and comfortable, the food great quality and variety, and the staff couldn't be more helpful and friendly. There's also a very reasonable honesty bar! ...more ...less

Walking in Andalucia

I very much enjoyed the holiday - the hotel was comfortable with good food, the walks were varied (in length, difficulty and scenery), and the day in Seville exceeded my expectations. It was a very well thought out itinerary, and all the staff we encountered were very helpful, especially our guide, Michael. We had a fairly large group of 14, but we all got on very well, helped by the friendliness of the local staff. We were lucky to get very good weather at the end of April (as hot as summer!), so we could make good use of the hotel pool, and eat our evening meals outside on the terrace. ...more ...less

Great Week's Hiking in Andalucia

I loved everything about this trip: the blue skies, the heat, the fabulous scenery, the lovely Cortijo Rosario and the wide variety of interesting trails. The leader Michael was top class all round: attentive to everyone’s individual needs, knowledgeable and passionate in telling us all there was to know about the landscapes we walked through and super conscious on safety. The itinerary succeeded brilliantly in showing the charms of the local environment as well as the more spectacular highlights such as the Caminito del Rey through the El Chorro Gorge. Evening meals were exceptionally tasty and varied and all eaten outdoors on a patio overlooking the olive groves. Everyone got on happily with Michael and with one another. I would strongly recommend this trip to other Exodus fans. ...more ...less

Walking in Andalucia

This is a most enjoyable holiday in beautiful countryside. It was a great pleasure staying at the Cortijo Rosario, a comfortable converted farmhouse set in very attractive grounds and with its own swimming pool. The traditional breakfasts and dinners were excellent, and the sangria and paella demonstrations on the last evening a highlight. It was so good to be off the tourist route and see small villages where people actually live, as well as the stunning countryside. ...more ...less

Amazing scenery and great walks

This was one of the best trips I have been on with Exodus. The accommodation was incredible and we all felt like it was home. The food amazing, the bedroom although small was homely. The staff so friendly. The drivers of the mini bus were always on time picking us up and the whole trip went like clockwork. ...more ...less

Walking in Andalucía

This was a really wonderful trip. I enjoyed the diversity of walks/hikes from climbing mountains and walking in olive groves and farmer's fields to the interesting "boardwalk" in the El Chorro Gorge. The day in Seville was a great break in a week of more challenging physical demands. The farmhouse with it's swimming pool, fabulous views, excellent staff and friendly dogs was a wonderful place to be stationed for the week. ...more ...less

Spring Walk in Andalucia

This trip leans more toward moderate walking rather than leisurely due to the terrain which is quite rocky. The weather the week I was there was clear, sunny, and warm. The countryside was filled with beautiful spring flowers which offset some of my disappointment in the general scenery and the walks through pasture lands where it was sometimes difficult to navigate holes hidden by grass, limestone outcroppings, and cattle paddies. The Cortijo Rosario was lovely and the staff very welcoming and accommodating. The dinners were very good and the staff very obliging to dietary requests without sacrificing taste or portions of substituted dishes. The only hiccup as far as our stay was being without hot water one evening. I would not mention it as we made do, and no one seemed upset over it, including myself, but I have read in other reviews that the same thing has happened. Algámitas is a very rural village with very few businesses (take what you will need), but the couple of times we made pre-hike morning stops for coffee at two of the cafes there were nice. ...more ...less

WALKING IN ANDALUCIA

This is the first time I had this type of holiday with a guide and a bunch of people I didn't know. I was worried that I wouldn't be happy to be told where to go/when to go/what to do by someone else on my holiday.

From the olives to the mountains

A fairly gentle week's walking though I'd imagine it would be a lot harder in the heat of summer. We had torrential rain on the first day's walk (unusual) but the weather after that was a very pleasant at 25 to 30 degrees C. The atmosphere at the farmhouse was very relaxed, and it was lovely not to have to worry about room keys (you're in the countryside, a long way from crime and annoyances). It's worth noting that the days are relatively short, so there is fair amount of time spent back at the farmhouse in the afternoon waiting for dinner at 8pm - fine if you like relaxing, not so good if you like to be active. ...more ...less
