Tour Overview

Although the Amazon rainforest is the most famous eco vacation destination in Brazil, you won't see most of the animal species there. Your best chance to discover Brazil's wildlife is on one of the many Pantanal tours that are offered across the country. Pantanal is a unique ecosystem, in one of the most fascinating regions in the world: 230,000 square kilometers that form a biological oasis of wildlife and the largest water-covered plain in the world. Around 650 species of birds, 230 species of fish, 80 species of mammals, 50 species of reptiles and countless species of insects are waiting to be discovered by you. For wildlife-spotting, the dry season (June-October) is undoubtedly the best time to visit the Pantanal. The water has receded and the animals come out from the deeper and more inaccessible parts of the wetlands and cluster around the waterholes. The peak of the rainy summer season (November to March) is still a great time to visit as it's quintessentially Pantaneiro in its lush landscape. This is when the rivers overflow and flood the lowlands, making most of Pantanal only accessible by aeroplane or boat.

Day 1 : Welcome To Pantanal

Location: Cuiabá, Pantanal - Poconé, State of Mato Grosso, Brazil

Accommodation: Lodge

Meals Included: Dinner

From the airport we go to Poconé. Our starting point for the well known transpantaneira. The streed is not asphalted, towards the UeSo - Estância Vitória pousada. In this route we already have the chance to see several animals like: kaimans, capybaras, tuiuiú. etc.

Upon arrival (check in) at the pousada, depending on the time, lunch will be served. Followed by a short siesta. At the end of the afternoon we will take a walk on one of our trails in the expectation of seeing more animals, dinner will be served at the pousada.

After dinner if you wish we will take a hike in search of nocturnal animals. We advise you not to forget to bring your torch along.

Day 2 : Walking & Horse Ride

Location: Pantanal - Poconé, State of Mato Grosso, Brazil

Accommodation: Lodge

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

In the morning, at 05:00 a.m., we will take a walk in the dawn before breakfast to see the awakening of the day. That is a spectacle of nature that you should not miss.

After breakfast we will go horse riding. Also for people who have no experience riding! Back at the pousada we will have lunch. In the afternoon our next ride will be by boat on the Rio Novo or Rio Claro. With a little luck we can see a family of ariyas, or anta and many birds.

Day 3 : Jaguar Safari

Location: Porto Jofre

Accommodation: Lodge

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

In the morning, at 05:00 a.m., we will serve a coffee. Then we head towards Porto Jofre, which is 107 km from the end of Transpantaneira. On this route we can see many Alligators and Capibaras among others, besides many birds. At some point we will stop for breakfast in the form of a picnic. In Porto Jofre we will start our 5 hour boat trip along the rivers Cuiabá, São Lourenço, Três Irmãos and
Piquiri. In a region of virgin forest, untouched and fascinating. House of the jaguars here we have a good chance to see one or the other in search of food or resting. We will have lunch on one of the beaches on the banks of the river in the shape of a snack. Back to Porto Jofre, we will start our trip back to the inn where dinner will be served.

Day 4 : Discover The Region's Flora And Fauna

Location: Pantanal - Poconé, State of Mato Grosso, Brazil

Accommodation: Lodge

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

After breakfast, we will take another walk along one of our trails in the expectation of seeing more animals. After lunch you have free time for a swim in the pool or a rest. In the afternoon we will take a walk along one of our trails in the expectation of seeing monkeys, silver nail or howlermonkey. Return to the lodge followed by dinner. If you are interested you can make a night tour.

Day 5 : Say Farewell To Pantanal

Location: Cuiabá

Meals Included: Breakfast

Breakfast at Pousada UeSo - Estância Vitória. After breakfast, check out to the airport. Depending on the flight schedule we will do another horse ride or walk in the morning followed by the airport transfer after lunch.
