We begin our tour of Santa Marta at Quinta de San Pedro Alejandrino, the former sugar cane estate where Simón Bolívar spent his final days before passing away in December 1830. Once owned by Joaquín de Mier, the estate has been transformed into a museum that showcases everyday objects and tools from the 18th and 19th centuries—the era in which Bolívar lived. Among the highlights are Bolívar’s personal bed and the one where he died. The museum also features various artworks commemorating the most heroic moments of this iconic leader of South American independence.

From there, we continue to the historic center of Santa Marta, where we’ll visit Colombia’s oldest church, the Cathedral of Santa Marta. We’ll then drive along Avenida 3, passing notable landmarks such as Simón Bolívar Park, Los Novios Park, the Palace of Justice, San Francisco Church, and the scenic beachfront promenade. Finally, we’ll head over the hills on a charming road that leads to the coastal village of Taganga, a quaint fishing town where we’ll pause at a viewpoint for panoramic views of the bay.
The tour begins in Santa Marta and does not include airport transfers to the hotel. However, accommodation in Santa Marta is included.
