From tiny seasonal settlements of the upper valleys displaying the fascinating Balti culture to the crossing of the snow-capped Thallay La. This easy & adventurous trek connects the two Kingdoms on the world's roof, i.e. Khaplu with Shigar. The trip is remarkably varied in terms of the natural landscape, ranging from the sands of the Indus valley, by way of the "Alpine " lower valley, to the high snows of the spectacular peaks surrounding the Thallay La

Day 1 : Meet At The Group Hotel In Islamabad. Transfers From Islamabad Airport

Meet at the group hotel destinations in Islamabad. All clients will be picked up by our representative guided tours on arrival at Islamabad International Airport and taken to the group hotel after the international travel.
Day 2 : Fly To Skardu, Drive Via The Valleys Of The Ganche District To District Capital Khaplu (2500M)

Weather permitting safe travels, we take the early morning 1-hour flight from Islamabad to Skardu, skirting breathtakingly past the Rupal and Diamir faces of Nanga Parbat (8126m) the world’s ninth highest peak. It is even possible to catch a fleeting glimpse of the K2 mountain nation and the other high peaks of the Baltoro in the distance before landing at Skardu. Here, we check in to the group hotel chain and can spend the afternoon looking around the bazaar, visiting the nearby Kharpocho Fort, or taking a jeep ride up to the beautiful Satpara Lake one of Pakistan’s beautiful places. A prominent rock inscription of the Lord Buddha on the drive up to Satpara is a reminder that this area was a part of the Buddhist world before the arrival of Islam.
Or In case of flight cancellation due to weather, drive from Islamabad via Karakoram Highway with short stops at various touristic spots.
Day 3 : Skardu-Khaplu
Location: Khaplu, Khaplu

Drive to Khaplu, passing through small villages of Ghanche district; en route, we will have short stops at the meeting point of Shayok & Indus Rivers, Thorgo Pari and visit Yugo. Enjoy traditional lunch at Yugo and a cultural walk in the streets of Yugo to witness village life and meet locals. Later in the late afternoon, we drive to Khaplu and check into the hotel with leisure time to visit the Khaplu fort museum and organic garden.
Day 4 : Khaplu – Thalay Valley – Thalay Broq
Location: Khaplu

After breakfast, drive from Khaplu to Thalay valley (2 hours). Visit Daltir village, walk through the street, meet the locals and have leisure time to explore the area. Then drive to the Thallay broq campsite and have free time in the afternoon for a short hike.
Day 5 : Thalay Broq – Dubla Khan
Location: Khaplu
Accommodation: Camp

After breakfast at Thalay broq, start the trek through beautiful lush green meadows, witness the magnificent scenery of Karakoram peaks and meet cheerful Balti Shepherds. Fix camps and have plenty of leisure time. Optional botanic walk in the afternoon.
Day 6 : Dubla Khan - High Camp
Location: Khaplu valley
Accommodation: Camp

Trek from Dubla Khan to High camp (4180m). Free time to visit the nearby glacial stream, test your scrambling skills on nearby rocks or venture out to spot some of the numerous Karakoram birds and flower species.
Day 7 : (High Camp –Thalay La – Camp 3
Location: Khaplu valley

After two hours of trekking, we will reach the top of the Thalay La (4800 m). Magnificent views to both sides down to valleys with spectacular views of the Masherbrum range, Mango Gusor & many high peaks. After a short stay, we will trek down towards camp 3 (3750m) on the Shigar side.
Day 8 : Camp-3 – Shigar Valley
Location: Shigar, Khaplu valley

Trek down to Shigar valley, passing through the beautiful pastures. Check into the hotel in Shigar and have free time in the afternoon. A visit to Shigar fort and fort museum in the late afternoon.
Day 9 : Shigar - Skardu – Islamabad
Location: Skardu International Airport, Islamabad Capital Territory, Serena Shigar Fort

Drive from Shigar to Skardu airport (1 hour) and fly to Islamabad (1 hour). Transfer to hotel and sightseeing after lunch.
Day 10 : Contingency Day In Case Of Delays
Location: Skardu, Islamabad Capital Territory
Accommodation: Hotel

If we cannot fly due to the weather, we will travel down to Islamabad by road. If we fly from Skardu to Islamabad, there are plenty of sightseeing & cultural attractions in the capital region. The leader will advise on the options available, e.g. day excursion to the Taxila museum and archaeological sites or a visit to the famous Raja Bazar.
Day 11 : Departure Day
Location: Islamabad
Meals Included: Breakfast
After breakfast, transfer from the hotel to the airport for international flights.

If you are traveling by yourself, you will be paired with another single client of the same sex. It is possible to hire a single tent while on the trek for an additional cost. The group will spend three nights in Islamabad during the holidays at an excellent standard hotel. The group will also spend two nights in a tourist-class hotel in Skardu and one night in Khaplu. Accommodation at each of these hotels is twin-sharing with en-suite facilities. Whilst on the trek, four nights will be spent camping in a comfy two-person alpine tent. If you are traveling by yourself, you will be paired with another single client of the same sex. It is possible to hire a single tent while on a trek for an additional cost. Additional hotel nights in Islamabad are also available. In case of flight cancellation, the group will be accommodated in a tourist-class hotel (the best available option) on the way. Rooms will be twin sharing basis, and the single room will be available at a supplementary cost.

Is there a limit to luggage that can be brought on the tour?
For this holiday you should take one piece of luggage, a soft and sturdy duel bag and a daypack. Porters will carry your bag on the trek. The packed weight of your bag whilst trekking, including your sleeping bag and camping mattress, should be no more than 15 kgs. It is possible to leave items not required on the trek at the group hotel in Islamabad and Skardu.
