Day 1: Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia
Location: Kota Kinabalu
Upon your arrival at the airport, meet our representative depending on destination - they will be holding a sign with your surname. Enjoy a convenient, hassle-free transfer to your accommodation. Day 2: Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia
Location: Kota Kinabalu
Pickup from hotel and transfer to the jetty. Board a 15-minute ferry ride to Gaya Island, the largest of five islands of Tunku Abdul Rahman Park. Gaya Island is known to have some ofthe best lowland forests. Upon arrival, trek for about 1.5 hours through coastal vegetation,mangrove swamp and lowland dipterocarp forest. Our guide will explain to you about the flora and fauna of this tropical island. After your trek through this primary forest, pick up by boat and transfer to nearby Sapi Island, the smallest among the five islands and well-known for snorkeling for its colorful marine life. Spend the day at your own leisure : Go swimming, snorkeling or just laze yourself at the white sandy beach. Short and simple trails are available for your own option of you wish. After lunch, continue your free leisure time before departure. At 3.00pm, board boat from island jetty to Kota Kinabalu mainland and transfer back to hotel.
Day 3: Kinabalu Park, Malaysia
Location: Kinabalu Park
Take a scenic 2 hours’ drive to Kinabalu Park passing by villages and paddy fields along mountainous roads that wind along the Crocker range. Along the way, make a brief stop at Nabalu Market. Nabalu is a place where the local natives gather to sell local produce, fruits, home grown vegetables and handicraft souvenirs.
On arrival at Kinabalu Park, you will notice the change in air temperature. Enjoy the refreshing and cooling air as you proceed for a walk along the nature trails in the Botanical Garden. If the day is clear, you may even spot a majestic view of Mount Kinabalu, the highest mountain between the New Guinea and Himalaya.
Kinabalu Park boasts an estimate of 4,500 species of plants which include 1,500 species of orchids, 77 of which are endemic to Kinabalu. The park also supports 289 species of birds and 290 different types of butterflies. After the walk, depart for lunch at a local restaurant.
Later, depart for another interesting wonder, the Poring Hot Spring. At approximately 47 kilometres (1 hour drive) from Kinabalu Park, Poring Hot Spring got its name from the tall bamboo plant that is abundant in that area. At this natural hot spring, there are Japanese baths where visitors can soak themselves and let the invigorating sulphurous water stimulate the body. It is believed to have curative powers. Visitors can also try the Canopy Walkway, where suspension bridges are suspended at the top of the tropical jungle. Experience the height of 41 metres above the ground and length of 157 metres. A 20 minutes hike is needed to reach the Canopy Walkway. Return to Kota Kinabalu for an approximately 3 hours’ journey and drop off at your respective hotel.
Note: As Poring Hot Spring is a public area, you may expect big crowd of visitors and locals during weekends & public holidays.

Day 4: Kinabalu - Sepilok
Location: Sepilok
Meet our representative at the lobby of your accommodation, for your transfer between Kota Kinabalu and Airport. Pick-up time will be confirmed beforehand.

Day 5: Sepilok
Location: Sepilok (Orang Utan Sanctuary)
Drive for about half an hour to Sepilok Orang-Utan Rehabilitation Centre where orphaned and injured Orang-Utan brought to Sepilok to be rehabilitated to return and fend for themselves back to the wild. Sepilok is a primary lowland forest; a fine showcase of Borneo’s remaining rainforest. Witness the feeding of Orang-Utan from a platform in the
forest. Watch the 25 minutes scheduled video documentary show. Proceed to Borneon Sun Bear Conservation Centre (BSCC) and witness the effort to provide for the care, rehabilitation and release of orphaned and captive sun bears, as well as address the lack of knowledge and awareness of this little-known bear both in Malaysia and internationally.
The Malayan sun bears (Helarctos malayanus), found only in south-east Asia, and is the world’s smallest bear species. Stop at local restaurant for lunch.
Afternoon, you will be picked up at your respective hotel and adjourn to Bilit by the Kinabatangan River and then on to Borneo Natural Sukau Bilit Resort. At 1600 hours, river cruise in search of wildlife that is so prevalent in the area – a good chance to see proboscis monkey, orang utan, macaques, pygmy elephants, birds and other wildlife. Return to the resort. Dinner will be served. After dinner and subject to weather conditions, follow our in-house naturalist for a night walk in search of nocturnal mammals.
Day 6: Kinabatangan
Location: Kinabatangan
Wake up to the calls of gibbons and hornbills. Proceed for an early morning cruise to observe more wildlife and birdlife. Return to resort for breakfast. After breakfast, follow in house Guide for Jungle trekking within resort area. Return to the resort for lunch. Late afternoon, set off for another river adventure and try to spot more wildlife and birds before returning to the resort for dinner.
Day 7: Kinabatangan- Sandakan, Malaysia
Location: Kinabatangan
Departure:
Rise early for another early morning cruise along the Kinabatangan to observe more wildlife and birdlife. Return to resort for breakfast. Check out and depart for your return journey to Sandakan.
** Shared transfer applicable for flight depart after 2pm.

Is there an age limit?
No! Most of our bamba travellers fall between the ages of 18 - 35, but everyone is young at heart and welcome to come experience the world with us! If you are between the ages of 18 and 118, we invite you to travel with bamba and have the time of your life! Minors must be accompanied by an adult.

Who will be my travelling companions on the tour?
Most of our trips cater to the adventurous independent traveller. In fact, many of our travellers arrive on their own and quickly find that they easily meet like-minded people along the way at their hostels, on transportation, or during activities.

Do I need travel insurance?
We highly recommend purchasing travel insurance for your trip, especially when travelling in developing countries. Bamba does not include travel insurance of any type.Your current medical insurance may cover part of your trip, so it is important for you to become familiar with your current coverage. We recommend purchasing additional travel insurance that provides coverage for medical emergencies, emergency evacuation and repatriation, lost or stolen items and unforeseen cancellations. If you plan to participate in activities such as white-water rafting, trekking, sand-buggy rides, etc please make sure they are included in your policy.
