Arrival at the Campsite, acclimatization walk, and welcome gatheringThis experience begins at 6:00 am in Mexico City, this one is the father of volcanoes, the adrenaline that is experienced only when heading to the town of San Miguel Zoapan by road, is inexplicable. In this small town is where we will leave our vehicles, to later have a delicious breakfast at Lalo's house, our leading guide with more than 150 ascents to the peak and just over 85 summits, our team of guides will provide us with a technical talk, touching points such as the "rope system" or "use of crampons and ice axes", as well as the best practices for walking on a glacier.
We will continue to ride the 4x4 vehicles operated by tenants to promote local consumption. It is then that we will enter the forest on a path that is quite difficult to access. Once we arrive at the refuge, we will set up the camp, as well as start cooking and eating our delicious meal. We will take an acclimatization walk with our guides to finally return to camp to rest.
Day 2: Pico de Orizaba - Mexico City, Mexico
Location: Pico de Orizaba, Mexico City
Climb the Pico de Orizaba and transfer back to Mexico City
Later we will descend to the camp by the same route, to reach the refuge where the 4x4 trucks will be waiting for us to go down to San Miguel Zoapan, where we can eat a delicious farewell meal prepared by our guides. This is where our experience in the Colossus of Mexico ends.
Get ready to start your journey back home at 16:30, arriving in Mexico City at around 20:30 hrs.
NOTE: Previous experience in high mountains is necessary to carry out this tour. Before the ascent, our guides will review with you the techniques of progression and safety on ice.
