Tour Overview

Il est né le divin enfant: “He is born, the Heav'nly Child,” intones the choir in the mighty nave of Strasbourg Cathedral. The Gothic arches seem to lead up into heaven to produce a scene that never fails raise the goosebumps. Christmas Mass in this world-famous Cathedral is an unforgettable experience. The medieval lanes of Mainz and Koblenz are somewhat quieter and more down-to-earth. Timbered houses, fairy lights and the aroma of baked apples warm the heart, while the wine punch warms the belly and the mind. But poor Lorelei sits on her wintry rock and looks out at the Danube. The best way to recount the legends about her is over baked Christmas delicacies and hot chocolate. With cream on top.

We will set off on our exciting Rhine cruise from here, heading for the northern or the southern Rhine. Cologne is a city in western Germany located across the Rhine river. It is the oldest in Germany, dating back 2000 years and is considered the region’s cultural hub. The city is known for its iconic landmark of the twin-spired Cologne Cathedral set against the reconstructed Old Town buildings. When in Old Town, visit the historic Old Town Hall and the Roman Church Great St Martin, or take time out and sit at one of the traditional breweries and enjoy the scenery around you. Historical sites such as the Roman Dionysus mosaic and the medieval Overstolzenhaus are worth a visit too. Another iconic sight in Cologne is at Hohenzollern Bridge. Here, local and tourist couples affix padlocks to the railings of the bridge and swear their loyalty to each other, they then throw the key into the Rhein to ensure everlasting love. Cologne is home to over 30 stages providing cabaret, free ensembles, theatre and dance and also celebrates its openly gay culture.

Wonderful Danube River Cruise on the A-Rosa Donna!

26-Jul-2023

Our party of 4 (2 couples) thoroughly enjoyed a wonderful week on the A-Rosa Donna, Danube river cruise. All the crew from the cleaners to the Captain were first class, all so friendly and helpful, making our holiday a very special time. All the food was excellent, such a variety every day and a great selection of drinks too. We would like to make a special mention to the dining/drinks crew members who went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed during our stay, they were brilliant! We have already recommended this holiday to family and friends and will definitely be booking future river cruises with A-Rosa. Thank you!

Romantic Cruise

20-Sep-2023

The crew were fantastic and several went above and beyond. Too many to mention but special thanks to Umat, Stefanie, Ruta and Can. It was our Golden Wedding Anniversary and the Maitre de gave us a table for dinner in the reserved area with linen tablecloth, napkins and roses Also Didi the chambermaid did a wonderful display using the towels in our cabin and rose petals. Certainly a cruise to remember
